Arcadia Cafe

Arcadia Café and its owners had a vision to bring their unique brand of home-roasted coffee and handmade pastries to Campustown near Iowa State University. Being longtime supporters of the Campustown district, the owners also sought to rehabilitate a vacant and run-down building into a welcoming and inviting environment for the highly trafficked Welch Avenue. The operable cafe windows allow the sights, sounds and aromas of the restaurant to emanate from the building facade, inviting pedestrians in off the street. The ceiling clouds in the interior space were made from historic tin ceilings that were salvaged from a historic building that previously sat just north of the cafe. The project was awarded a facade grant from the City of Ames Campustown Facade Grant Program.
