The AMES Center is a 27,000+ square-foot facility designed to support a wide range of educational and student services for K–12 learners in the Ames Community School District. Located just blocks from Ames High School, the former residential facility has been transformed into a flexible, multi-functional hub that brings together student services, professional development, and district programs under one roof.
The AMES Center serves many functions, including wellness-focused classrooms, the Home School Assistance Program (HSAP), administrative offices, and continuing education and professional development spaces. It also accommodates after-school programming and summer learning opportunities.
Additional features include a secure outdoor courtyard, flexible meeting and classroom spaces, a community pantry, and shared staff amenities. A new geo-thermal system enhances long-term energy efficiency, while safety, security, and acoustic improvements allow multiple programs to operate simultaneously without disruption.
10Fold collaborated closely with district leadership to design a facility that meets diverse user needs. A color and environmental study guided the selection of calming, functional finishes that align with the district’s quality standards and long-term maintenance goals.
The AMES Center is more than a renovation. It reflects a bold vision for supporting students and staff in an inclusive, forward-thinking environment that is designed to evolve with the needs of the district and the Ames community.
