Anamosa State Prison Powerhouse Renovation and Boiler Replacement

The Anamosa State Prison and the Iowa DAS were in need of creative solutions to replace three antiquated boilers that served the correctional facility. The solution involved a multi-phased approach to keep building systems operational. The existing boilers and related equipment, steel and concrete structural supports, and multi-level equipment platforms needed to be carefully removed from within an operating plant. New openings were created in the side walls, roof and floors of the building to allow new boilers to be moved into place. A new multi-level system of walkways and service platforms were implemented around the new boilers. Wall, floor, and steel structure remediation of damaged components were also completed.
